Historical era: Pahlavi Period
Location: east side of Seyed Hamzeh shrine, Seghat-al Islam Avenue
The poets and mystics graveyard of Sirkhab is reported in many historical accounts. The oldest Persian memorial written by Hamdolah Mostowfi, in 740, has mentioned this cemetery. More than 400 scientists, poets and mystics are buried there, amongst them: Asadi Tusi, Qatran Tabrizi, Khaqani Shervani, Mojireddin Bilaqani, Zahireddin Faryabi, Shapur Nishapuri, Homam Tabrizi, Mani Shirazi, Shakibi Tabrizi, Mohammad-Hossein Behjat Tabrizi (Shahriar).
Now a substantial and of modern architecture building inspired by Iranian tradition is built by ‘Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance’ and ‘Society for Cultural Works and Dignitaries’ in commemoration of this graveyard.
