The Mayor of Tabriz issued a message on the occasion of World Tourism Day.
The message of the Mayor of Tabriz is as follows:
For many years now, developed and developing countries have been paying attention to tourism, not as a recreational tool but as an industry, devising a systematized plan for developing the tourism industry as well as sustainable economy.
Approving that our country’s portion is negligible compared to other countries, all the metropolises should pose solutions to exploit such a lucrative industry.
The selection of the motto of” Tourism and Employment, a Better Future for All” by UNWTO indicates the significance of Tourism-related jobs and their impacts on economy growth at each country.
With the selection of Tabriz as the tourism capital of Islamic countries under the approval of OIC in 2018,” Tabriz 2018” is considered as the turning point of tourism development in Tabriz and East Azarbaijan province. Ever since, the attention of our fellowmen and foreign tourists was attracted and special TV programs of introducing Tabriz Tourism attractions in local and national channels caused tourism boom in Nowruz and this summer.
Tabriz Urban Management has not limited its tourism- related programs to “Tabriz 2018" ,emphasizing on the continuation of programs in the field of public educations, the introduction of infrastructures and Tabriz potentials, as a long-term plan.
Given the importance of the tourism economy, we must also keep pace with the world to make the most of the opportunities provided by tourism for countries so as to exploit more cultural and economic development and prosperity in our country.
Since 1980, the United Nations World Tourism Organization has celebrated World Tourism Day as international observances on September 27. This date was chosen as on that day in 1970, the Statutes of the UNWTO were adopted. The adoption of these Statutes is considered a milestone in global tourism. The purpose of this day is to raise awareness on the role of tourism within the international community and to demonstrate how it affects social, cultural, political and economic values worldwide. The theme of the day was "sustainable tourism", in 2017. In 2018 the theme was "Tourism and the Digital Transformation" and in 2019 the theme is "Tourism, A Key Sector in the World".
