Marking ‘Intl. Quds Day' in Tabriz

Marking ‘Intl. Quds Day' in Tabriz
Tabriz municipality contributes to the glorious ceremony of Quds day
On the 40th anniversary of 'International Quds Day', Tabriz citizens from all walks of life held massive rallies in support of oppressed people of Palestine on Friday May 31.
Like the other years in” Quds day” Tabriz municipality staff along with the other People in the large groups of tens of thousands took to streets on Friday to express their solidarity with Palestinians, facing the dangerous prospect of a sellout of their rights through the US plan and condemn  Israel's violation of the Palestinian nation's rights.
This year's anniversary of the International Quds Day coincided with debates on the US-Israeli peace plan for Palestine or the so-called the 'Deal of the Century'. Tabriz protesters took part in the rallies, carrying banners and chanting slogans against the new conspiracy against Palestine and the Palestinians

Rejecting the U.S. peace plan, dubbed the "deal of the century" Marchers marked the occasion by setting fire to American and Israeli flags, as well as effigies of President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Demonstrators carried banners with slogans such as “down with the U.S.”, Down with Israel”, “Al-Quds belongs to all Muslims around the world” “Quds day is the day of Islam” as well as "No to the deal of the century" and Israel will not survive the next 25 years.

The slogan of this year's rallies as set by the 'Intifada and Quds Foundation and the Council for Islamic Propagation' is "International Quds Day; the Failure of the Deal of the Century and Embedding the Palestinian Cause."

Aiming at preparing the city to magnificently mark the Quds day and hold the rallies, Tabriz municipality took numerous measures; such as cleaning the streets and equipping them with proper fire-fighting facilities, installing huge number of billboards, printing a special issue of "Tabrizim" weekly dedicated to the event, decorating the streets, running a pavilion of Tabriz municipality etc.
The event of Quds day is even more glorious and remarkable in Tabriz, since Tabriz and Gaza are sister cities. Gaza has always been one of the symbols of resistance and justice-seeking of the Muslims. Therefore, there was no need to any further studies on the justification of sisterhood contract in April 2013. Since then, two cities have always had friendly cooperation. In realizing the goals of the contract, for instance, the municipality of Tabriz named one of the important streets of the Tabriz as "the martyrs of Gaza" some years ago.

Participating the Quds march alongside with all municipality staff, Iraj Shahin Baher, the mayor of Tabriz municipality, acknowledged the importance of Tabriz-Gaza sisterhood contract and said: " despite the fact that all Iranians are like the brothers and sisters of all Palestinians, Tabriz is the sister city of Gaza, bringing about more solidarity and ties stronger between two cities. Addressing the gravity of the Quds day event, He further stated that the contract seeks for more cultural interactions between the cities. "Palestaine and Gaza are part of Islam's world and Tabriz is the 1st capital of Shia, the facts making the sprits of two cities even closer" he added.
Ayatollah Ale Hashem, the Friday prayers Imam of Tabriz and representative of supreme leader in Azerbaijan province highlighted the global effect of the Quds rally and further emphasized on the failure of the deal of the century and the success of the stabilization of Palestinian ideal in near future, giving speech to protesters.

Ayatollah Booshehri, the Friday prayers Imam of Qom and the guest orator of the event, praised matchless participation of Tabriz citizens, clarified the hidden fact associated with the century's deal and said that the deal is doomed to fail.
The International Quds Day is an annual event opposing Israel's occupation of Beitul-Muqaddas. Anti-Zionist rallies and demonstrations are held on the last Friday of Ramadan in Muslim and Arab countries around the world, especially in Iran, as well as a large number of non-Muslim states.
The idea of International Quds Day was initiated by the late Founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, in 1979 as a way of expressing solidarity with the Palestinians and underscoring the importance of the holy Quds to Muslims.
