Conference on 'Tourism Fiqh' (Tourism Jurisprudence), a step toward the removal of obstacles in the field of Islamic tourism


Two-day “Tourism Jurisprudence” conference was held on 24-25 April with the attendance of researchers from 50 different countries of the world, hosted by Tabriz, the capital city of East Azerbaijan Province in northwestern Iran.
The conference aimed to introduce the potentials of Tabriz as a Muslim tourism spot and promoted Halal Tourism in Tabriz and other cities in Iran as well as other Islamic countries.
More than 300 foreign researchers and scholars in the field of Islamic tourism and Halal tourism and a number of domestic scholars attend the Tabriz conference.
250 papers were presented to the International Conference on Tourist Jurisprudence (Fiqh).
In the opening ceremony of the conference in the Vahdat Hall of Tabriz University, Dr. Iraj Shahin Baher, the mayor of Tabriz, said: "The tourism industry is one of the most important sources of income in developed countries, and according to last year’ statistics released by the global authorities, about one and half billion tourism trips have taken place”.
He also stated that Tabriz has always been the place of attracting plenty of tourists in the science, medicine and culture sections. The existence of the biggest university of Islamic world, Rab'-e Rashidi, whose ruins are remained in Tabriz, made the Islamic and religious sciences extend in the world and marked the name of Tabriz in the history.
Later in his remarks, he reiterated that names of such sophisticated people along with the tourism attractions of Tabriz led to the selection of Tabriz as the tourism capital of Islamic countries in 2018.
